Japanese Ambassador Shares Greetings on Mountain Day 

Kathmandu: H.E. Maeda Toru, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, wrote a message for Mountain Day on August 11. The message stated that Japan celebrates Mountain Day, honoring the beauty of mountains and connection with nature.

Ambassador Maeda said, “As Japan and Nepal share a deep bond through our mountains and mountaineering traditions, this day holds special meaning. This Mountain Day, however, is also marked by deep sorrow. We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of 10 climbers in the recent avalanche on Broad Peak, including renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja and other members of the international climbing community.”

He gave his condolences to their families, friends, and the entire climbing community and stated that the mountains is a reminder of the preciousness of life, human solidarity, and our shared responsibility to respect and protect nature.
