Kathmandu Art Gallery Opens ‘Aura of Togetherness’ Exhibition

Kathmandu: “Togetherness is not holding hands; it’s the meeting of heartbeats.” These words, shared during the opening of ‘Aura of Togetherness’, seemed to echo through the halls of Kathmandu Art Gallery as Sabita Dangol’s new works took their place on the walls on November 27.

The exhibition, which runs from November 27 to December 28, 2025, is the gallery’s second exhibit at Babarmahal.

In her latest series, Dangol presents elephants, camels, horses, birds, and human figures woven into vivid landscapes. She described nature as a source of wisdom and equilibrium, a guide for understanding the delicate energy connecting all living beings. “My art is a reflection of love, unity, and coexistence,” she said. “It is a visual prayer for connection and the enduring beauty of life.”

Sangeeta Thapa, Founder of Siddhartha Art Gallery, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful cultural spaces and acknowledging Sabita Dangol’s ability to portray shared rhythms between humans, animals, and the environment.

She expressed her hope that the gallery’s new home continues to encourage dialogue, reflection, and artistic engagement.

The evening’s Chief Guest, Charu Chadha, Editor of Business 360 and editor-at-large for WOW, spoke about her early attempts at writing about arts and culture before sharing a poem inspired by the exhibition’s theme.

She further recited her poem:

“In the quiet space between two threads

a soft light gathers

not yours, not mine,

but something bound

where two souls remember

they’re not alone.

Togetherness is not holding hands;

it’s the meeting of heartbeats

that recognize each other in the dark…

two lives moving side by side.”

The opening was attended by many different groups, including artists, educators, writers, and representatives from all forms of media. The event was also seen as an opportunity to bring together individuals from all walks of life to explore the concept of unity, coexistence, and peace within nature.
