Kathmandu: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) organized a KOV Handover Ceremony in Lalitpur on August 14. The ceremony was attended by representatives from KOICA, the recipient organization, and the newly arrived KOV. Park Eunsil, a member of KOICA volunteer group, arrived in Nepal on July 14,2026 and successfully completed a four-week adaptation training program in Lalitpur.
Park Eunsil has been assigned to Kirtipur Secondary School in Kathmandu as an Early Childhood Development (ECD) volunteer. She will officially commence her volunteer service at the school from August 17, 2026 for 1 year.
Kong Mooheon, Country Director of KOICA Nepal Office, expressed his sincere appreciation to Kirtipur Secondary School and its management for the warm welcome extended to KOICA and the KOV Program. He highlighted that the occasion marks the beginning of a continued partnership between the school and KOICA through the KOV Program and expressed his hope for meaningful, sustainable and mutually beneficial collaboration in the years ahead. He emphasized that such cooperation would contribute to positive and lasting outcomes for the school and its students. Finally, he wished Ms. Eunsil Park, the KOV, a successful and fulfilling tenure at Kirtipur Secondary School.
The objective of the KOV program is to focus more on transferring Korean knowledge and experiences directly at the grassroots level. However, these programs aimed to improve the quality of life of people in partner countries to strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between Korea and partner countries and to help in the efforts to achieve development goals set by the international community.
Since 1990, KOICA volunteers have been assigned to various government organizations across Nepal, both within and beyond the Kathmandu Valley, in response to requests from the Nepalese government. They have contributed in different sectors, including education, health, agriculture, IT, and tourism. To date, 500 volunteers have been dispatched to Nepal, with 9 currently serving in government institutions in the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Ilam, Kailali, Kaski, Baglung and Rupandehi districts.
The KOICA Nepal Office has expressed its commitment to taking all necessary measures to follow health and security protocols while implementing the KOV program.
