Kathmandu: The Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu hosted a Corporate Lunch Meet at the Square Hotel, Lalitpur, on June 12, aimed at strengthening networking with key stakeholders in Nepal and promoting the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026. The event highlighted Malaysia’s offerings as a premier travel destination for Nepali tourists, emphasizing the ease of travel and the diversity of attractions awaiting visitors.

Moreover, the Embassy also briefed on the important updates that took place in Malaysia, in particular the outcome of the 46th ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26 May 2025, which was held under the Chairmanship of Malaysia.
The Embassy also shared the outcome of the 46th ASEAN Summit during the program. The ASEAN reaffirmed its support for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship which was held under the theme ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’, reflecting the shared commitment to regional peace, security, stability and prosperity within an inclusive and sustainable framework.
ASEAN reaffirmed the importance of ASEAN Centrality and Unity in shaping a peaceful, stable and inclusive regional architecture. ASEAN also stressed the need to strengthen strategic trust and mutual confidence among ASEAN Member States and external partners through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law.
Moreover, the ASEAN remained committed to enhance prosecutorial cooperation in addressing transnational crimes, build institutional capacity, and strengthen ASEAN’s commitment to justice, the rule of law, and a rules-based regional order. In promoting tourism, ASEAN reaffirmed its commitment to advancing a sustainable, inclusive and resilient tourism ecosystem in ASEAN, aligned with the Action Roadmap for Sustainable Tourism Development in ASEAN.
ASEAN resolved to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN Member States and with the external partners to advance sustainable tourism development in the region. Under the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, ASEAN continue to prioritise in advancing culture and heritage for cultural heritage value creation, strengthening the creative economy, skills and talents through Artificial Intelligence, digitalization, and green jobs.
Furthermore, in education and entrepreneurship, ASEAN launched the Startup ASEAN online platform and celebrated the ASEAN Startup Year 2025, which features over 100 startup-focused initiatives and highlight ASEAN’s vibrant entrepreneurial landscape, currently valued at USD131.2 billion. ASEAN applauded the implementation of the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers, including the adoption of the Checklist for ASEAN Member State Governments, Labour Recruiters and Employers of Migrant Workers on Fair Recruitment and Decent Employment Practices and welcomed the development of the second edition of the ASEAN Employment Outlook, focusing on the long-term care workforce.
The ASEAN recognized the urgent need to tackle threats of climate change and welcomed the progress in the implementation of ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change to the 30th session of the Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC COP30) and the operationalization of the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change in Brunei Darussalam.
The 46th ASEAN Summit also welcomed the admission of Timor-Leste as the 11th Member of ASEAN at the 47th ASEAN Summit in October 2025.
