Kathmandu: Bhagwati Neupane, Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration, visited the Recycling and Upcycling (RU) Fest 2025 held at the Pokhara Event Centre on August 2, 2025.
The event showcased innovative products made from recycled plastic, glass, and fabric by RU enterprises from across Nepal, including 11 based in Pokhara. These enterprises are supported by UNDP’s Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) project.
Minister Neupane congratulated Pokhara Metropolitan City, KOICA, and UNDP for organizing the successful event. “This fest shows that recycling and upcycling not only manage waste but also generate green jobs. It can be a model for cities across Nepal,” she said.
The two-day fest featured discussions on the circular economy and climate action, tech demos on plastic reuse, upcycled fashion exhibits, youth workshops, and public art. Nearly 7,000 visitors participated in the celebration of innovation, sustainability, and green livelihoods.
