Ministry of Energy Holds a Meeting with Delegation from the World Bank

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation held a cordial and constructive meeting with a high-level delegation from the World Bank on April 9. The delegation included David Sislen, Division Director for Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, Amer Ahmed, Operations Manager for Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, Rita Dhaka, Senior Operations Officer, and Nguyet Anh Phan, Senior Energy Specialist.

During the courtesy call on the Minister, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, discussions ocused on the progress and effective implementation of ongoing World Bank-funded projects under the Ministry, particularly in the energy, water resources, and irrigation sectors.

In the course of the dialogue, David Sislen emphasized an important perspective: Nepal is not merely a recipient, but also one of the owners of the World Bank. This reflects the shared ownership structure of the institution and underscores a partnership based on mutual accountability, trust, and long-term collaboration. He also expressed his excitement with the new and fresh leadership and conveyed his optimism for a positive and effective partnership ahead.

The Ministry remains committed to deepening this partnership to advance sustainable, resilient, and inclusive growth in Nepal’s energy and water sectors.
