MoWCSGMSS Convenes Gender Responsive Budgeting Audit Workshop

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Women, Children, Sexual and Gender Minorities, and Social Security (MoWCSGSS), convened a two-day Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) Audit Workshop, with technical support from UN Women. The workshop brought together representatives from more than 12 federal ministries and commissions to assess how gender commitments are being translated into public policies, programmes and budgets.

Using the Ministry’s newly endorsed GRB Audit Procedure, participating institutions critically reviewed their planning, budgeting and implementation processes through a gender lens.

“Going forward, we are committed to closer coordination with Gender Focal Points across ministries, to strengthening the technical capacity of gender focal staff, and to ensuring these conversations continue at the highest levels,” said a participant following the workshop.

UN Women stated that they are proud to support the Government of Nepal in advancing Gender Responsive Budgeting as a catalyst for inclusive and equitable development. Together, we remain committed to strengthening the implementation of Nepal’s national gender equality commitments and international obligations under the CEDAW implementation roadmap, so that public resources create tangible improvements in the lives of women, girls, LGBTIQ+ communities and other marginalized groups.
