Kathmandu: The Municipal Energy Plans (MEPs) of Varagung Muktichhetra and Gharapjhong Rural Municipalities were officially handed over to the respective local governments on January 7, 2026.
The plans were handed over to Chairperson of Varagung Muktichhetra Rural Municipality Rinzen Namgel Gurung and Chairperson of Gharapjhong Rural Municipality Mohan Singh Lalchan. The handover was conducted by Dr. Ranjan Prakash Shrestha, Senior Programme Manager at the European Union Delegation to Nepal, and Dr. Frank Fecher, Programme Manager at GIZ Nepal.
Prepared with technical support from REEEP-GREEN, the five-year plans aim to guide the implementation of local energy initiatives, strengthen local governance, and promote climate-resilient and sustainable communities.
The handover marks a key step towards translating energy planning into action and expanding access to clean, reliable, and inclusive energy at the local level.
