Kathmandu: On the occasion of National Unity Day and the 304th birth anniversary of the founder of modern Nepal, His Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah, a non-political national discourse program titled “Nation First, Unity Always” was successfully concluded on January 11 at the 360 Degree Resort, Kaji Kalu Pandey Hill, Dahachok.
The program focused on the historical and contemporary contributions of former national servicemen and distinguished Nepali personalities toward national interest, unity, and security. The event saw the participation of experienced professionals from the security sector, diplomacy, education, research, and policy-making arenas.
Delivering the welcome address, Chief Coordinator of the program and Managing Director of Eagle Think Tank, Former Brigadier General Ram Chandra Khatry, Sukeerti Padak (Former Military Attaché of Nepal to India), emphasized that safeguarding Nepal’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity is a collective responsibility of all citizens. He highlighted the significant role played by former personnel of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and intelligence services in nation-building, and stressed the need for the State to institutionalize and utilize their experience and expertise effectively.
The program was jointly organized by University of Three Generations, NICE Loksewa, OTTISH, Edu Globe Learning Center, Shailendra Printing Press, and Eagle Think Tank. Organizers stated that the primary objective of the event was to collect practical and implementable suggestions to guide the nation toward stability and progress amid challenges such as political instability, unemployment, weak governance, and managerial shortcomings.
