Kathmandu: Nepal defeated host nation Sri Lanka 2-0 in the SAFF U-17 Championship match held on Monday at the Colombo Racecourse.
Both goals were scored by Sameer Kumar, who gave Nepal the lead in the 52nd minute and sealed the victory with another strike in injury time of the second half.
With this win, Nepal secured victory in its opening Group A match. The team will face Bangladesh in its second match on September 18.
