Nepal Embassy Holds Events to Strengthen Nepal-Sri Lanka Ties

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Colombo held two fruitful engagements focused on strengthening Nepal-Sri Lanka ties. 

Suranjith Wevita, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), called on the Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires Vijay Kumar Raut.

During the cordial meeting, both sides discussed ways to further promote tourism between our two countries, with special focus on Buddhist and Hindu religious tourism circuits and strengthening people-to-people connectivity, the strongest pillar of Nepal-Sri Lanka relations.

Chairman Wevita also met with representatives of the Sri Lanka-Nepal Business Council, where a productive discussion was held on enhancing two-way tourism, business linkages, and joint promotional activities.

The Embassy also welcomed Biplab Kari, CEO and Founder of Hyperace, a Nepalese company specializing in AI-powered e-commerce solutions. Karki visited Sri Lanka as one of the Top 10 Finalists among 250+ applicants in the “First Startup Capital Nation”, a regional startup competition between Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka organized by Hatch.

He met with CDA Raut and members of the Sri Lanka-Nepal Business Council and also had the opportunity to meet Chairman Wevita. Discussions focused on collaboration in Tourism, Business & IT sectors, and on Climate Change and environmental challenges in light of the recent flash flood in Rasuwa, Nepal.
