Nepal Expresses Gratitude to UAE for Granting a Pardon to 267 Nepali Inmates

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has expressed its sincere gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for granting a pardon to 267 Nepali inmates on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th National Day, Eid Al Etihad.

In a press release issued on February 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the pardon as a friendly and humanitarian gesture that reflects the spirit of friendship, goodwill, and cordial relations between Nepal and the UAE. The Government of Nepal highly appreciated the decision, noting that it underscores the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

According to the Ministry, the pardon was granted in response to repeated requests made by the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi, following instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nepali citizens who have been pardoned will be able to return to Nepal after completing the required legal procedures, provided they have no other pending legal cases or restrictions under UAE law.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Nepali citizens abroad and strengthening cooperation with the UAE in matters concerning Nepali nationals.
