Kathmandu: Nepal and Germany discussed Nepal’s ongoing disaster recovery efforts, climate resilience and bilateral cooperation during a meeting between Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Reem Alabali Radovan, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, at the United Nations Headquarters on the margins of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, Minister Khanal conveyed appreciation to the Government and people of Germany for their sympathy and solidarity following the recent disaster in Nepal.
Nepal also briefed the German minister on its ongoing recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts and stressed the need for increased international investment in climate resilience, disaster preparedness and capacity-building.
Nepal expressed its appreciation for Germany’s longstanding support for the country’s development.
Minister Radovan emphasized that the recent disaster in Nepal represents a shared global challenge and expressed Germany’s commitment to extending financial and humanitarian assistance to affected communities, according to the statement.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing climate action as a shared global responsibility and agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
