Kathmandu: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is on a visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Poudel at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Sheetal Niwas on Sunday. On the occasion of the meeting, President Poudel said that Nepal has benefited from the progress made by India as a friend and close neighbor and wants to benefit even more.
“We are happy and excited by the progress seen in the socio-economic and technological fields of India as an emerging international power. Nepal has benefited from the progress made by India as a friend and close neighbor and wants to benefit even more,” said President Poudel’s press advisor Kiran Pokharel, quoting him during the courtesy call.
He said that Nepal and India have enjoyed close social, cultural, religious, spiritual, economic and people-to-people relations for centuries, and that the relations between our two countries are based on universal equality, friendly cooperation, mutual respect and trust.
“Nepal has always given high priority to its relations with India. Nepal appreciates the “Neighborhood First Policy” of the Indian government, which gives special importance to relations with its neighbors,” President Poudel said.
On the occasion, Indian Foreign Secretary Misri said that Nepal is a high priority according to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of prioritizing relations with neighboring countries, according to his statement, informed the President’s Press Advisor Pokharel.
In addition, Foreign Secretary Misri expressed the belief that during his visit, he would have an opportunity to discuss how to increase connectivity for progress and development between the two countries in the modern era and that this visit would further deepen the relations between the two countries.
