Kathmandu: Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar, Secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, welcomed global delegates to the Asia–GCC Dialogue on the Implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM), held on 25–26 June, 2025, in Kathmandu.
The event, hosted by the Government of Nepal in partnership with IOM Nepal and UN Migration, focused on strengthening regular pathways for labour mobility.
Addressing the dialogue, Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari said “Migration is a path to shared prosperity. For Nepal, our workers abroad are not just labor, they’re ambassadors of hope, dignity, and resilience,” adding, “I call for stronger Asia-GCC partnerships to ensure ethical recruitment, skills recognition, social security, reintegration, and the protection of migrants’ rights. Let us work together for safe, humane, and empowering migration.”
Nepal reaffirmed its strong commitment to multilateralism, regional cooperation, and promoting safe, dignified, and rights-based labour migration in line with the GCM’s principles.
