Nepal-India Home Secretary-Level Talks to Resume in New Delhi After Eight Years

Kathmandu: The Home Secretary-level discussions between the Government of Nepal and the Government of India are set to take place on July 22 in New Delhi, marking the resumption of talks after an eight-year gap.

A 12-member Nepali delegation led by Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi will leave for New Delhi on July 21, according to Home Ministry Spokesperson Ram Chandra Tiwari. The team includes one Additional Inspector General (AIG) each from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Law, and the Department of Survey.

Spokesperson Tiwari stated that the discussions will primarily focus on security issues, including cross-border crime, border security, intelligence sharing, drug control, and smuggling. The topic of Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) will also be on the agenda.

This is the first time the high-level bilateral talks are being held since 2016.
