Kathmandu: Nepal has marked a major step in climate action with the launch of its National Carbon Registry, jointly unveiled by the Ministry of Forests and Environment Nepal and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The registry will enable transparent tracking of carbon credits and support the implementation of Paris Agreement Article 6, which facilitates international cooperation in carbon markets.
Officials said the system will strengthen Nepal’s readiness to participate in global carbon markets while improving transparency in climate-related initiatives.
The initiative is expected to help mobilize climate finance and scale up climate solutions, supporting Nepal’s efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
