Kathmandu: Amrit Bahadur Rai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal, and Ana Isabel Xavier, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Portuguese Republic, jointly inaugurated the chancery of the Embassy of Nepal amid a special ceremony in Lisbon on February 19.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Rai expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of the Portugal for its continued support and facilitation in the successful establishment of the Embassy. Secretary of State Xavier expressed her happiness in hosting the Embassy of Nepal in Portugal and assured continued support from the Portuguese Government for the smooth functioning of the mission.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Andres Carrascosa Coso, Apostolic Nuncio, welcomed the Embassy as a new member of the diplomatic corps in Lisbon.
Ambassador of Nepal to Portugal, Prakash Mani Paudel, welcomed the distinguished guests and stated that the Embassy would serve as a bridge to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

High-ranking officials of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Secretary-General Ambassador Francisco Ribeiro Telles, representatives of Portuguese government agencies, members of the diplomatic corps, and media persons were present at the ceremony.
The Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon had formally commenced its operations on April 16, 2025.
