Nepal Reaffirms UNDP Support Priorities at UN Executive Board

Kathmandu: At the First Regular Session of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa, reaffirmed UNDP’s role as the UN system’s development engine.

He highlighted UNDP’s continued support to Nepal in key areas including governance, climate resilience, inclusive growth, digital services, and rural energy. The Ambassador also called for enhanced support to ensure a smooth, sustained, and irreversible graduation of Nepal from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category, stronger climate resilience measures such as GLOF risk reduction and early warning systems, and deeper private-sector engagement in renewables, MSMEs, tourism, and digital transformation.
