Kathmandu: The eighth edition of the Nepal Riders Meet is set to take place in Lalitpur with the objective of promoting Nepal’s adventure and experience-based tourism. Organizers announced at a press conference held at the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) that the event will be held from February 14 to 16 at Chapkharka, Godawari-2, Lalitpur.
Arjun Thapa, Coordinator of The Himalayan Motorcycle Experience and organizer of the Nepal Riders Meet, informed that more than 550 riders from Nepal, India, Bhutan and Myanmar are expected to participate in the event.
Speaking at the program, NTB Senior Manager Surya Thapaliya said motorcycle tourism could play a key role in diversifying and promoting Nepal’s tourism sector. He noted that such events help expand road trips, adventure tourism and cross-border travel by showcasing tourism products beyond traditional trekking and mountaineering. “Nepal Riders Meet will make a significant contribution to adventure and experiential tourism. If we can attract riders, especially from neighboring India, motorcycle tourism can significantly boost tourist arrivals. Riding is not just travel; it is also a way to experience Nepal’s culture and nature up close,” he said.
Representatives from organizing and supporting institutions, including Shakil Gauchan of Fore Nepal, Megraj Poudel, Director of Royal Enfield, and Anil Kafle, Chief of The Himalayan Club, emphasized that the Nepal Riders Meet has become an important festival for the riding community. They highlighted motorcycle tourism as a growing tourism product that promotes cultural exchange, brotherhood among riders, and Nepal’s diverse heritage.
The organizers believe the event will help position Nepal as an attractive destination for regional adventure tourism. Launched in Bardiya in 2013 with a small group of riders, the Nepal Riders Meet has grown into a major annual event with participation exceeding 500 riders. The program aims to promote Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, scenic highways and hospitality.
Nepal Riders Meet has previously been organized in destinations such as Bardiya, Chitwan and Manang. According to the organizers, the event will also contribute to the international promotion of Nepal’s tourism destinations through digital platforms, rider networks and media coverage.
