Nepal Showcases Tourism Potential at ‘Nepal Evening’ in Toronto

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal, Ottawa, in partnership with the Nepal Tourism Board, organized a promotional event titled “Nepal Evening” in Toronto on February 19, to showcase Nepal’s diverse tourism attractions to the Canadian market.

The event brought together Canadian outbound tour operators, travel partners, and Nepali travel and tour entrepreneurs. It coincided with the participation of the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepali private sector travel companies in the internationally renowned Outdoor Adventure Show being held in Toronto from February 20 to 22 at the International Centre.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Nepal to Canada, Bharat Raj Paudyal, described Nepal as “not merely a destination but a transformative experience.” He highlighted Nepal’s unique blend of natural beauty, adventure, culture, and spirituality.

The Ambassador noted that Nepal, home to Mount Everest and eight of the world’s fourteen peaks above 8,000 meters, offers world-class adventure tourism, including trekking, mountaineering, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, and jungle safaris.

Referring to evolving global travel trends and improvements in tourism infrastructure, Ambassador Paudyal emphasized that Nepal caters to visitors of all interests and age groups — from adventure seekers and cultural explorers to wellness and luxury travelers in a distinctive Himalayan setting.

He also underscored Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, including its UNESCO World Heritage Sites and vibrant living traditions reflected in festivals, arts, cuisine, and ethnic diversity. Highlighting Nepal’s growing global recognition as a destination for wellness, meditation, and spiritual tourism, he recalled its significance as the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a sacred pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus.

The Ambassador informed participants that air connectivity between Canada and Nepal is convenient through major international hubs and that Canadian citizens benefit from visitor-friendly visa procedures, including visa-on-arrival and electronic travel authorization options. He invited Canadian partners to collaborate closely with the Embassy, the Nepal Tourism Board, and Nepali tour operators to further promote Nepal in the Canadian market.

A representative of the Nepal Tourism Board delivered a detailed presentation outlining key tourism activities and major attractions across Nepal.

The program was attended by representatives of travel agencies and tour operators in Toronto, Nepal Tourism Board officials, Nepali travel and tour company representatives, and Embassy officials. The event concluded with a networking reception aimed at strengthening partnerships and enhancing tourism-driven business ties between Nepal and Canada.

Earlier in the day, Ambassador Paudyal also visited the Nepali pavilion at the Outdoor Adventure Show, where he interacted with tourism entrepreneurs representing Nepal.
