Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) successfully concluded its participation at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) Mumbai 2026, held at the Jio World Convention Centre, marking a major milestone in promoting Nepal in the Indian travel market. Nepal was awarded the Best Adventure & Experiential Tourism Award 2026, following its 2025 recognition as the Best Adventure Destination, reaffirming its position as a leading global adventure tourism hub.
According to NTB, interest from Indian travelers grew by 30 percent in January 2026 compared to the previous year. A delegation of 34 Nepali tourism companies showcased a wide range of products, including trekking, luxury mountain resorts, heritage hotels, MICE facilities, wellness, and pilgrimage tourism. NTB also highlighted Nepal’s advantage of frictionless travel for Indian visitors, supported by the open border and the digital payment integration between NPCI and Fonepay, allowing the use of UPI-based apps across Nepal.
Senior Manager of NTB Suman Ghimire said Nepal’s authentic, community-based tourism products continue to resonate strongly with the Indian market, despite the need for increased flight connectivity. The Nepal Pavilion, covering 220 square meters, attracted strong attention and facilitated extensive business-to-business interactions, helping reposition Nepal as a diverse destination beyond traditional trekking, including luxury, spiritual, and experiential tourism.
