Kathmandu: The 14th General Assembly of the Nepal–Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry elected a new executive committee under the leadership of businessperson Sunil Bhakta Shrestha, on November 26.
The newly elected team includes Deepak Kumar Malhotra and Urmila Shrestha as Senior Vice-Presidents, Gopaldas Manandhar as Vice President, Nabin Saru (Dol Bahadur Thapa) as General Secretary, and Swati Ghoriwala as Treasurer. Similarly, Pavitra Man Gurung and Prakash Ram Shrestha have been elected as Secretaries.
Elected members of the committee are Manish Lal Pradhan, Sushil Sthapit, Deepak Maharjan, Sanjeev Tuladhar, Raju Shrestha, Shyam Marwadi, Rashmi Pant, Kumar Shrestha, Prakash Regmi, Ayush Bahadur Shrestha, Ramesh Parajuli, Vidhata Shrestha, Achyut Bahadur Hada, Sakam Ghimire, and Sarvottam Lal Shrestha.
According to a press release issued by the Chamber, the new leadership has also appointed Kiran Kumar Shrestha, Dhruva Kumar Shrestha, and Dr. Saroj Adhikari as advisors.
On the occasion, newly elected President Shrestha pledged to take further measures to strengthen and expand trade relations with Vietnam. Highlighting about huge trade potential between the two countries, he pledged to fully utilise his term to promote bilateral trade, attract investment, and connect entrepreneurs.
Vice-President Urmila Shrestha also assured that the organization would contribute to identifying areas for potential joint investments between Nepal and Vietnam, promoting trade, attracting investment, and sharing business experiences between the two sides.
During an inaugural session of the event, Honorary Consul General for Vietnam, Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, said the role of the Chamber is vital in taking the Nepal-Vietnam trade relations to a new height. “The potentiality for Nepali products in Vietnamese market is rising. The Chamber’s role could further explore such possibility,” he said, underlining the need for further cooperation between the two nations, focusing on agriculture, tourism, trade, and IT sectors.
