Nepal, Vietnam Vice Presidents Meet; Discuss Promotion of Religious and Cultural Tourism

Kathmandu: Vice President of Nepal, Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, and Vice President of Vietnam, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is on a three-day official visit to Nepal, held delegation-level talks in Kathmandu today.

The discussions highlighted the religious and cultural similarities between the two nations and explored the vast potential for promoting religious and cultural tourism. According to Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prakash Adhikari, the meeting was conducted in a warm and cordial atmosphere, with both sides exchanging views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.

The two leaders emphasized that Nepal-Vietnam relations are rooted in friendship, goodwill, and respect for sovereignty. They agreed to further strengthen cooperation by facilitating exchanges at ministerial and other levels, as well as exploring the expansion of air connectivity between the two countries.

Joint Secretary Adhikari further mentioned that Nepal could learn from Vietnam’s rapid economic growth and discussed opportunities for investment, trade, digital technology, and enhancing people-to-people relations.

This visit marks the first-ever high-level engagement from Vietnam to Nepal and carries special significance as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday at the invitation of Vice President Yadav and will return home on August 25 after completing her engagements.
