Nepal Welcomes Two-Week Ceasefire Between US and Iran

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has welcomed the recent announcement of a two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the Iran, describing it as a constructive step toward de-escalation in West Asia.
In a statement issued on April 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the temporary truce provides an opportunity for dialogue, diplomacy and a peaceful resolution of differences. Nepal noted that the development contributes positively to promoting peace and stability in the region, while reiterating its longstanding position in favour of settling disputes through peaceful means.
The government also expressed concern over the humanitarian consequences of the conflict and stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of civilians affected by the tensions.
Nepal further said it remains supportive of efforts by the international community aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in West Asia and beyond.
