Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi Holds Health Interaction for Migrant Workers

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal Abu Dhabi organized an interaction programme in Abu Dhabi to discuss physical and mental health challenges faced by Nepali migrant workers in the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 25 Nepali medical specialists took part in the event. Doctors said migrant workers are facing common health problems such as hypertension, heart-related risks, kidney issues, and mental health disorders, with mental health concerns reported at a higher rate. They noted that limited health awareness, language barriers, lack of information about insurance, and hesitation to seek treatment often prevent workers from getting regular check-ups.

Medical professionals advised workers to have health check-ups every six months, drink enough water, avoid alcohol, and stay informed about insurance coverage. They also suggested stronger health awareness campaigns and telemedicine services through coordination with the Government of Nepal.

Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, thanked Nepali doctors working in the UAE and recognized the contributions of migrant workers. He said the Embassy will continue health awareness programmes and work with partners to support Nepali workers’ well-being.
