Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi has urged Nepalis working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to strictly follow the country’s laws, rules, and norms.

In a public notice, the Embassy said it had received reports of Nepalis being detained in recent days for drunken brawls, disorderly behavior, illegal transactions, traffic violations, and cyber crimes.

The notice advised workers not to give passports, Emirates IDs, or SIM cards to others, and not to take loans using their ID. It also cautioned against irresponsible use of social media, saying: “Do not post indiscriminately on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram in a way that denigrates personal character and disrupts social harmony, and do not send unnecessary emails to local bodies.”
