Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal organized a program on the occasion of Buddha Purnima at the Embassy hall in Doha on May 1. The program started with the playing of Nepal’s National Anthem. Kumar Rai, Acting Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar, and Krishna Panthi, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Federation, National Coordination Council in Qatar, jointly lit the lamp and offered flowers to the statue of Lord Buddha.
In the program, Lama Guru Shri Rakesh Lo Tamang offered flowers to the statue of Lord Gautama Buddha and recited mantras. Shraddha Katuwal, Vice President of Life Sciences in Qatar and Yoga Sadhi’s wife, while giving her speech on the occasion mentioned that meditation is a mental bath. Lokmaya K.C., President of Nepali Women’s Society in Qatar, gave a congratulatory speech on Buddha Purnima. After that, Rakesh Shrestha, President of Nepal Tribal Federation in Qatar, spoke about the Four Noble Truths. Similarly, Chairman of Non-Resident Nepali Federation and National Coordinating Council in Qatar, Krishna Panthi discussed the essence of Buddha’s sayings. Similarly, Muktada Musalman, Deputy Secretary General of Non-Resident Nepali Federation and International Coordination Council in Qatar spoke about the importance of tourism in places related to Buddha while discussing Lord Buddha and Buddha Purnima.
Concluding the program, Acting Ambassador Rai discussed Buddha’s Eightfold Path and Shil, showing the need for physical as well as mental purification, encouraging them to continue on the path shown by Lord Buddha, and expressed his gratitude to all those present at the program. The event was conducted by Shobhakhar Baral, Assistant of the Embassy, and the co-organization of the Non-Resident Nepali Federation, National Coordination Council, Qatar, and more than one hundred Nepalis living in Qatar and the Embassy family were present.
