Nepal’s First Fiber Cement Board Industry Launched with Rs 1.5 Billion Investment

The industry currently employs around 200 people, with over 98% being local workers and more than 40% women.

Kathmandu: IME Group has invested Rs 1.5 billion to establish Everest Fiber Cement Board Industry, the country’s first facility producing international-standard fiber cement boards. Located in Fatuwa Bijaypur Municipality-6, Rautahat, the plant officially began production and distribution today.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Kathmandu, was officiated by Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari. He praised the eco-friendly facility as a key step in reducing import dependency and advancing sustainable construction in Nepal.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of IME Group and President of FNCCI, highlighted that the venture will create jobs, promote import substitution, and demonstrate Nepal’s capacity to produce world-class building materials using local resources.

The fully automated plant has a daily production capacity of 75,000 square feet and produces fire-resistant, weatherproof, and eco-friendly boards suitable for a wide range of construction needs.
