Kathmandu: Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations hosted a reception at UN Headquarters to mark the 263rd Nepali Army Day and celebrate 68 years of Nepal’s enduring contribution to UN Peace Operations.

The event was attended by UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, ambassadors, diplomats, military and police advisors, UN officials, friends of Nepal, and former Army Officers. In the reception, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, Lok Bahadur Thapa, spoke on the proud legacy of the Nepali Army—one of the oldest institutions defined by service, sacrifice and professionalism—and its vital role in safeguarding national integrity while advancing global peace and security.

With over 160,000 Nepali peacekeepers having served in UN missions, Nepal continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to multilateralism and international solidarity. Ambassador Thapa also appreciated Under-Secretary-General Lacroix for his recognition to the dedication and professionalism of Nepali peacekeepers worldwide.
