Kathmandu: Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushila Karki expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
On behalf of the Government and people of Nepal, she extended heartfelt condolences to Zia’s family, friends, and the people of Bangladesh.
PM Karki said Begum Zia’s lifelong public service and leadership marked a historic chapter in Bangladesh’s democratic journey. She also remembered her as a true friend of Nepal who played a significant role in strengthening Nepal–Bangladesh relations.
“May her departed soul rest in eternal peace,” the Prime Minister added.
