New Zealand DPM Meets Nepal’s PM Oli

Kathmandu: Visiting New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Peters met Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on May 28. During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, they discussed issues related to enhancing bilateral interests, mutual relations and cooperation. According to the Secretariat of PM Oli, they shared the view that there is ample potential for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, education, trade, and investment.

Prime Minister Oli informed that the current government has prioritized stability, development, good governance, social justice and social transformation along with the national aspiration of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis”.

Deputy Prime Minister Peters praised the efforts made for Nepal’s development and prosperity and emphasized on cooperation on issues of common interest among small countries in the international forum.

High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others participated in the meeting. The relationship between the two countries has also grown closer since Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand’s Sir Edmund Hillary were the first to successfully climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, on May 29, 1953.
