Kathmandu: A tourism promotion event aimed at highlighting the cultures, cuisines and travel experiences of Nepal and China was held in Kathmandu on December 11. The “Nihao! China” Tourism Promotion Programme, organized by the China National Tourist Office in Kathmandu, featured cultural performances, promotional activities and an awards ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Xiao Jiang, Director of the China National Tourist Office in Kathmandu, said the office is committed to strengthening connections between tourism stakeholders in both countries. She highlighted the wide range of tourism packages China offers to visitors from Nepal and beyond.
Director Xiao noted that the office has been working to create cooperation platforms between tourism institutions and enterprises of the two nations. “We support and assist local governments in China to promote their tourism resources, travel routes and products in Nepal,” she said. She added that the office also selects Nepali outbound tour operators to participate in major tourism events such as the China International Travel Mart (CITM), helping them explore the Chinese tourism market and build business links.
Mohan Suwal, an official at the China National Tourist Office, spoke about Chinese tourism attractions and potential areas of collaboration. He also gave a detailed presentation on the diversity of Chinese cuisine, emphasizing the country’s rich culinary heritage.
Air China’s General Manager in Kathmandu, Ma Kun, expressed the airline’s commitment to further strengthening tourism cooperation and serving as a platform to promote exchanges between the two countries.
The event was attended by diplomats, airline representatives, tourism leaders and travel agencies from both Nepal and China. Several top-selling travel agencies were also recognized for their strong business performance and collaboration with Air China.
Established in 2001, the China National Tourist Office in Kathmandu works to promote information on China’s tourism resources and support Nepali travelers visiting China.
