Kathmandu: H. E. Dagny Myos, Ambassador of Norway to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta.
During the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the long-term friendly relations between Nepal and Norway and how to make the bilateral cooperation in the health sector more effective. The support provided by the Norwegian government in Nepal’s health system strengthening, health information system, mental health, health education and research, maternal and child health, and women’s community health volunteer program among others was appreciated.
Minister Mehta, considering Nepal’s needs and increasing burden of diseases, expressed the expectation of more cooperation in these areas, stating that health infrastructure development, digitization of health services, climate change and public health, strengthening of non-communicable and mental health services, health tourism and herbal medicine are the priorities of the government.
Ambassador Myos has expressed commitment that the support of the Norwegian government will continue in the future in the fields including health, according to the priorities of the Nepalese government.
