NTCC Conducts Training on WHO Tool to Support TB Strategic Plan

Kathmandu: The National Tuberculosis Control Center (NTCC), under the Ministry of Health and Population, has completed a five-day hands-on training on the tuberculosis module of the WHO Integrated Health Tool (IHT). The training, supported technically by WHO Nepal, aims to help estimate costs for Nepal’s upcoming National Strategic Plan for TB (2026–2031).

Eighteen participants from the ministry, NTCC, WHO and partner organizations were trained on the tool, which provides a structured system to assess programme costs, model health impacts, compare different intervention scenarios and identify funding gaps. The IHT features a centralized, user-friendly platform with automated calculations.

Officials say the tool will help improve planning, resource allocation and service delivery in Nepal’s TB programme. The workshop was organized under the WHO PRIME-TB Initiative, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
