Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Nepal-Pakistan Youth Council (NPYC), distributed relief items to flood-affected families in Mangsebung and Phakphokthum Rural Municipalities of Ilam District on October 17.
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, accompanied by First Secretary Muhammad Haroon Rasheed and NPYC Convener Richumani Luitel, personally met the affected families and handed over relief goods at Gajurmukhi Dham, Mangsebung Rural Municipality, Ilam.
The event was attended by Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal, District Police Chief SP Ek Narayan Koirala, the Chairman of Mangsebung Rural Municipality, and local residents. On the occasion, Ambassador Hashmi expressed deep sympathies and solidarity with the flood victims and reaffirmed the enduring friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Nepal and Pakistan. He lauded the resilience of the affected communities and appreciated the efforts of Nepal’s three-tier government in their relief initiatives.
Additionally, Ambassador Hashmi further announced four scholarships for MBBS, BDS, and B. Pharmacy programs under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme (PTAP), along with fifty scholarships for higher secondary education through the NPYC, aimed at supporting deserving students from flood-affected families in Ilam District.
Moreover, during his visit to Biratnagar, Ambassador Hashmi met with Riwati Bhandhari, Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province. He conveyed condolences from the Government and people of Pakistan to Nepal, particularly to those most impacted by the recent flash floods, and briefed the Minister on the purpose of his solidarity visit and outreach to the affected communities.
