Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Sahitya Academy Nepal, organized a literary event titled “Aalmi Mushaira: Urdu, Shaairi Ki Zubaan” at Hotel Aloft on July 22, 2025. The event celebrated the richness of Urdu poetry and aimed to strengthen cultural ties between Pakistan and Nepal.
Special guests included Siraj Ahmed Farooqi, MP (CPN-UML), and Kalpana Miya, MP (CPN-MC). The symposium was attended by a wide range of Urdu literature enthusiasts, including politicians, intellectuals, social activists, and officials from the Pakistan Embassy.
Renowned Urdu poets such as Dr. Zafar Eleeg, Dr. Saqib Harooni, Dr. Afzal Manglori, Furqan Faizi, Musharaf Ali Khan, Zahid Azad Jhanda Nagri, Ghalib Dareeb, Altaf Farifta, and Sapna Ahsaas shared their poetic works, earning praise from the audience.
Guests appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Embassy in promoting art and culture in Nepal, especially through the Urdu language. Nepali film director and writer Prakash Sayami highlighted the universality and emotional depth of Urdu poetry in his remarks.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, thanked the Sahitya Academy and participating poets for their contributions and emphasized the importance of deeper collaboration between the literary communities of both countries.
