PM Karki, Sri Lankan Counterpart Hold Telephone Talks

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki held a telephone conversation with her Sri Lankan counterpart, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, on December 3.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Sri Lankan PM Amarasuriya expressed gratitude for the USD 200,000 financial assistance extended by Nepal to support rescue and relief efforts for people affected by recent floods in Sri Lanka. The Nepal government had announced the aid earlier this week.

In the conversation, PM Karki said Nepal was ready to support Sri Lanka in times of difficulty. “As a friendly country, one should help another during times of trouble. It is our duty and religion. We are with you to tackle this difficult time,” she said.

PM Karki also briefed her Sri Lankan counterpart about the ongoing Gen Z protest, recent developments, and the overall situation in Nepal.

The call took place at around 8:15 PM on Wednesday.
