Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel received the annual report of the Gorkha Division presented by Major General Gerald M. Strickland of the British Army, who is also the current Colonel Commandant of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
On the occasion, President Paudel stated that Nepal and the United Kingdom have been cooperating in international forums on issues related to development, human welfare, and peace, and that both nations share common views on establishing world peace through the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.

He expressed gratitude for the continuous cooperation provided by the United Kingdom, an important development partner, toward Nepal’s development. Expressing his happiness over the British government’s commendable actions to strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, he also noted that the presence of Nepalis in the UK further strengthens people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The President said that the issue is being discussed at the diplomatic level and that it would be appropriate to resolve it promptly through a bilateral mechanism. He expressed gratitude to the UK government for presenting the annual report of the Brigade of Gurkhas in 2025 and said that the relevant bodies would study the report accordingly.
On the occasion, Major General Strickland praised the British Gurkha Army, stating that it is always at the forefront. He said that he reminds young people who join the British Gurkhas that they are sons and daughters of Nepal, and noted that the British people show love and respect toward Nepali Gurkhas.
British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, was also present at the occasion.
