Kathmandu – Prime Minister Sushila Karki has appointed Ram Bahadur Rawal, 42, to the role of her Press Advisor, a key post in her Secretariat.
Rawal, who has spent the last three months as the press coordinator to the PM, has been elevated to the role where he will receive benefits equivalent to those of a state minister.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on January 12, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel.
Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Rawal said he was “honoured and humbled” by the confidence shown by the prime minister. “With the election date approaching, the role of effective communication and acting as a bridge between the media and the executive head has never been more important,” he said.
A veteran journalist and editor, Rawal hails from Bajura and is widely known for his reporting on constitutional, parliamentary, and judicial affairs, as well as Nepal’s post-war political transition.
He previously served as the editor of NepalKhabar before joining the Prime Mininster Karki’s team.
