Kathmandu: Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan, delivered a response to the devastating damage caused by the flash flood. She said, “In response to the devastating damage caused by the flash flood in Nepal, I once again offer my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and extend my deepest sympathies to all those affected by the disaster.”
She stated that since the disaster struck on August 26, search and rescue operations have been underway under the leadership of the Government of Nepal. The Government of Japan has requested the Government of Nepal to make full efforts in the search for 5 Japanese nationals with whom contact has been lost while also contributing its utmost effort to confirm their safety. “I sincerely pray for the safety of those who remain missing.”
The Government of Japan has also decided, upon the request of the Government of Nepal, to provide emergency relief goods to Nepal, based on humanitarian considerations and in light of the friendly relations between the two countries. She stated that the Government of Japan will continue to consider providing necessary support in accordance with the needs of Nepal.
