Kathmandu: A 10-member delegation of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidly, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai at the Ministry on February 9.
The delegation is on a three-day visit to Nepal to attend the first Nepal–Qatar Joint Business Council (JBC) meeting. During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of Nepal and Qatar in areas including trade, tourism, commerce, investment, technology and broader economic partnership.
The head of the Qatari delegation expressed commitment to developing a roadmap for mutual cooperation. Foreign Secretary Rai reaffirmed the Government of Nepal’s readiness to provide necessary support to facilitate private-sector engagement between the two countries.
The Nepal–Qatar Joint Business Council was established under an agreement signed in April 2024 during the State Visit of His Highness the Amir of Qatar to Nepal.
