Kathmandu: A roundtable discussion on “India–Nepal Cooperation in New Technology & Startups” was held on December 16 at Mithila Awadh Dharamshala in Janakpur. The event was organised by the PHDCCI India–Nepal Centre in association with the Consulate General of India and the Nepal Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (NYEF) Birgunj and Janakpur chapters.
The discussion focused on startups and young entrepreneurs, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal in sectors driven by new technology. In his opening remarks, Session Chair Atul K Thakur, Senior Secretary of the India–Nepal Centre, PHDCCI, highlighted opportunities for industrial growth in Madhesh Province and Nepal, emphasising technology cooperation as a key pillar of future India–Nepal relations.
Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, Mr. Devi Sahai Meena (IFS), Consul General of India in Birgunj, said the platform would help connect Nepal’s emerging startups with Indian counterparts and benefit from India’s strengths in new technologies, including artificial intelligence and the IT and ITeS sectors.
The roundtable was addressed by representatives from NYEF, chambers of commerce, banks, technology firms, and entrepreneurs from both countries. The event saw participation from over 40 startups and MSME representatives.
Participants were also encouraged to attend the third edition of the “Startup Summit Nepal,” scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on December 20, as part of efforts to further strengthen the startup ecosystem and India–Nepal cooperation in innovation and technology.
