Kathmandu: A delegation of students and faculty from Dibyabhumi Multiple College in Kupondole, Lalitpur, visited the Russian House in Kathmandu on June 17. The visitation was done as part of the celebration for Russia Day and the “Beautiful Russia” exhibition. The group included undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Social Work and Psychology.
The meeting program was a rich cultural and educational event where guests were introduced to the Russian language, literature, and study opportunities in Russia. Students received detailed information about the regular Russian language courses offered by the Russian House, as well as scholarship programs available under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation.
During the visit, participants were given a guided tour of the Russian House’s rooms, with special attention to the library collections and the sculptural portrait of A. S. Pushkin. Attendees learned about the poet’s life, creative achievements, and his contribution to world literature. The photo exhibition “A Journey into the World of His Fairytales”, dedicated to Pushkin’s famous works and tales, attracted particular interest.
The program also included the screening of the documentary film “The World’s Leading Russist”, dedicated to Lyudmila Alekseevna Verbitskaya – former president of Saint Petersburg State University. Her contribution to the promotion of the Russian language and education is recognized worldwide.
The House stated that the visit provided an important platform for deepening the students’ knowledge of Russian culture, literature, and educational opportunities. It also helped strengthen cultural exchange and educational ties between Nepal and Russia.
