Kathmandu: The Russian House hosted a classical ballet graduation concert organized by Sushila Arts Academy, held in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre, in Kathmandu on June 27.
Before the concert began, the guest of honor Zhanna Vasilyevna Surovtseva, spouse of the Russian Ambassador to Nepal, visited the exhibition “85 Years of Sovinformburo: History Brought to Life”, featuring iconic photographs from the RIA Novosti archive that bring significant pages of history to life.
The event offered a vivid showcase of the students’ systematic training, progressing from foundational exercises (Levels 1A–2B) to advanced pointe technique (Levels 3A–5B). The program culminated in a full-scale ballet production, in which the young performers demonstrated confident technique, musicality, and stage artistry. To conclude the concert, Mrs. Surovtseva presented medals to the Junior and Senior graduates – a token of recognition for their hard work and dedication to the art form. Organized by Sushila Arts Academy, the concert highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and the strengthening of Russian-Nepali ties through the language of classical dance, opening new prospects for the development of ballet art in Nepal.
