Kathmandu: Snowfall around the Muktinath temple area in Mustang has affected pilgrims and trekkers visiting the region.
The District Administration Office, Mustang, has urged travelers to avoid trekking due to heavy snowfall in high-altitude areas. According to Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast light to heavy snowfall in high mountain regions, including Mustang-Dolpa, Yakkharka (5,800m), Thorangla Pass (5,400m), Saribung Pass (6,000m), and Dhampus Peak along the Dhaulagiri trekking route.
Tourists and trekkers have been advised to check weather updates before traveling, as rain and snowfall are expected in Mustang until Wednesday.
The number of visitors in Mustang had surged during the Tihar holidays but is expected to decline as offices reopen. Authorities have warned that snowfall and rain could affect daily life, agriculture, and tourism in high hilly areas of Gandaki Province.
CDO Bhusal has urged all travelers to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary risks during adverse weather conditions.
