Kathmandu: The Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Dr. Danielle Meuwly, held a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the longstanding partnership between Switzerland and Nepal and reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s democratic process and development.
Nepal and Switzerland formally established diplomatic relations in November 1956 and have since maintained close cooperation. Switzerland, one of Europe’s wealthiest nations, has been supporting Nepal through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) since the beginning of its bilateral relations.
Moreover, Switzerland has long prioritised development cooperation with Nepal. Even before opening its embassy in Kathmandu in 2009, it had established a consular agency in 1956. Nepal, meanwhile, continues to manage its relations with Switzerland through its permanent mission in Geneva.
