Switzerland and Nepal Celebrate 70 Years of Partnership with Launch of Trail Bridge Book

Kathmandu: As part of celebrations marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Nepal, the Swiss Embassy launched the Trail Bridge Book in a special event attended by former Finance Minister, Rameshore Prasad Khanal, and Head of Asia and Pacific Division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of Switzerland, Markus Leitner.

The publication highlights Switzerland’s long-standing contribution to Nepal’s trail bridge sector, a partnership that has spanned more than seven decades. Through Swiss support, thousands of trail bridges have been constructed across Nepal, connecting remote communities and improving access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services.

Speakers at the event noted that the bridges represent more than physical infrastructure, symbolizing connection, resilience and shared progress between the two countries.

The launch ceremony brought together representatives from government agencies, civil society and the international community, providing an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the bilateral partnership and reaffirm commitments for continued collaboration in the years ahead.
