Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa Makes History on Everest, Honored with Grand Welcome

Kathmandu, May 27, 2025: Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa, 29, from Khumbu, who set a world record by climbing Mount Everest four times in 15 days, was welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport on May 27.

Tashi set foot on the peak of Mount Everest, which stands at an altitude of 8,848.86 meters, for the fourth time at 3:13 am on May 23.

“I had been planning for it for two years. Finally, it became successful in 2025,” Tashi speaks with TDN.

The record-breaking Sherpa was given a grand welcome by his family, tourism professionals, the Sherpa community, and fans at the domestic terminal in Kathmandu this morning.

“I want to bring more foreign tourists into our country, Nepal. I might not be able to contribute a lot, but I want to increase the tourists by at least 5 per cent. I want to bring in more tourists to Nepal,” Tashi added.
