Kathmandu: A two-day Active Case-Finding tuberculosis (TB) camp was successfully completed in Mugu district under the leadership of the National Tuberculosis Control Centre (NTCC), with support from UNDP’s Global Fund project and the World Health Organization, and funding from the SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Center.
The camp was implemented with strong coordination among local Female Community Health Volunteers, municipal officials, the Health Service Office, and Mugu Hospital. During the initiative, TB screening was conducted for 175 people. Samples from 22 individuals were tested using mWRD rapid TB testing, which identified one positive case.
According to organizers, follow-up testing and treatment will be carried out in line with national TB protocols. The initiative highlighted effective collaboration among local and provincial governments, the National Tuberculosis Control Centre, UNDP, WHO, and frontline health workers to ensure TB services reach even remote communities.
